Arrived in Pond Inlet

Today was a long day spent travelling but the sights were definitely worthwhile! We left out hotel in Ottawa at 7:15 to catch a 3 hour flight at 9:15 to Iqaluit. From there Jenny caught a flight to Pangnirtung, Taryn and Kris caught a cab to the hotel for the night (they fly out to Cape Dorset tomorrow), and Rebekah and I waited around for our flight at 1:00 to Clyde River, and onwards and upwards to Pond Inlet.

First Air is the best airline. We got fed a wonderful breakfast on the first flight, and then a boxed lunch on the second, and snacks on the third.

Walking off the plane in Iqaluit I now understand what is meant by a dry cold. It wasn't bone chilling, but a deep breath in and you realize the severity of the temperature. With this being said, I am sure glad I splurged on a parka.

Snow Snow Everywhere

Our plane into Iqaluit from Ottawa. A bit bigger than the ones in Labrador.
Shout out to Stephanie and Sandra for that beautiful pink mitten in the top right corner.

Iqaluit on the hill. It was a lot bigger than I expected.
Unfortunately I wasn't in a great position to get a picture from the air.

Out of the window close to Pond Inlet

After landing in Pond Dave gave us a tour around town before we headed back to the house where Pat had prepared a delicious stir-fry. As we ate supper the sun set next to the huge iceberg viewed from their front window. I was taking all this in with my eyes and forgot about my camera so you will get the pictures in a later post.

Bragging point: I drank iceberg water with my supper. Mmmmmm

That’s all for now. Don’t forget to check out the other girl’s blogs at the top of this page.
